The boys are still in the midst of teething. One of Alex’s upper teeth started to show today, and he and Dom have been a bit out of sorts – waking up at night and fussy during the day. The night before last it took me an hour and a half to get Alex back to sleep even with nursing and rocking him. Poor fella. Dom and Alex managed to sleep through the night last night, though they woke a bit early. Yesterday, Puck took care of the boys in the morning while I caught up on sleep, and in the afternoon, I headed to the Mom Cave to work on the dissertation. Our boys had a fun day with their dad. Puck has identified that Dom not only says “Mama” on occasion, but he also says a version of Alex – “Ah-yah.” He’s quite the talker! Alex is babbling more of late too.
Today, both Dom and Alex wanted lots of Mommy time and would come over to sit on my lap or crawl all over me. When they felt a little better, they headed back out to explore and play. Sometimes a change in toys in the Playzone also distracted and engaged them. For lunch, Dom and Alex got to practice their fine motor skills – picking up and munching banana bits. Dom took to it quickly, and Alex started to catch on. After a little bit, they were ready for the food to come a bit faster – banana oatmeal. Yum!
In the afternoon we took advantage of the lovely weather to go for walk around the neighborhood. A ladybug landed on Alex’s hat. I got it to climb on my finger and showed it to the boys before it flew away. Dom thought that was cool. Several of our neighbors came over to admire our boys, and Dom and Alex enjoyed the outdoors and the attention.
When the Twin-Daddy got home from work, we went on a family excursion to Target and Barnes and Noble. Alex and Dom enjoyed wandering around in their stroller and later in the Baby Bjorns. We made it home just after 7, and we had them fed, changed and ready for bed 30 minutes later. They are snug in their beds now, and we will soon follow.
