{"id":1616,"date":"2010-05-04T10:24:49","date_gmt":"2010-05-04T18:24:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/?p=1616"},"modified":"2010-05-04T10:31:33","modified_gmt":"2010-05-04T18:31:33","slug":"100-days","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/2010\/05\/100-days\/","title":{"rendered":"100 Days&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>From the Twin-Daddy<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/count_100.bmp\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-full wp-image-1619\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" title=\"count_100\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/count_100.bmp\" alt=\"100 Days\" width=\"194\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>As of today we break the 100 day mark to our minimum goal of 36 weeks. \u00a0There is a 50-50 chance that within the next hundred days we will jump into all the insane and bleary-eyed bliss of parenthood. \u00a0I&#8217;m not certain why but the prospect of counting down from 100 is intriguing and exciting to me.<\/p>\n<p>This week we are looking at new rental houses, and we hope to have something picked out by Friday. \u00a0We could end up moving as early as Memorial Day if everything goes well. \u00a0I know exactly why the prospect of packing my house and moving my pregnant wife is not intriguing or exciting to me.<\/p>\n<p>Seriously, we were initially not very happy about it, but our attitude may be swinging in the other direction. \u00a0By moving, we may get more space for the family and end up a little closer to the people and things in Sacramento that we like. \u00a0Our commute should be almost the same so that is something to be happy about.<\/p>\n<h2>Learning Strange Skills<\/h2>\n<div id=\"attachment_1620\" style=\"width: 299px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/the_posture.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1620\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1620  \" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" title=\"the_posture\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/the_posture.jpg\" alt=\"This young man is helpfully demonstrating how to breastfeed one twin.\" width=\"289\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/the_posture.jpg 413w, https:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/05\/the_posture-267x300.jpg 267w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 289px) 100vw, 289px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1620\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">This young man is helpfully demonstrating how to breastfeed one twin.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Tonight is the socially awkward parenting class about breastfeeding, and once again we hit special challenges in this regard. \u00a0Normally, a mom can hold the child before her in her arms. \u00a0It&#8217;s idyllic, serene, and practically an inspirational gift card. \u00a0It is so sweet you want to hug a kitten.<\/p>\n<p>My wife will have to use a double-football grip with one kid snugged up under each armpit and their heads poking out in front like little milk-thirsty groundhogs. \u00a0I expect it will be harder to be discreet with a carefully placed blanket when you have two hungry boys and no free hands. \u00a0 It means that semi-public feedings are probably not an option for us. \u00a0That is perhaps less idyllic and more rugged frontier-chick mothering.<\/p>\n<p>I know you&#8217;re trying to picture how this works and it&#8217;s probably an entertaining mental picture. \u00a0I like to liven it up by imagining that she is running towards the\u00a0end-zone\u00a0at the same time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>She&#8217;s on the twenty! <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>She&#8217;s on the ten! <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>Touchdown Twin-Mommy!! <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>The crowd goes wild!! <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>The boys are doing their traditional\u00a0end-zone\u00a0belch!! <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px; \"><em>She certainly has some skills with those taa-taas!!<\/em><\/p>\n<h2>Babies Countdown &#8211; The Double Header<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><span style=\"color: #008000;\">127 days until September 8<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Today<\/strong> is our final child birthing class.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wednesday, May 5<\/strong> is our next OB-GYN appointment.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Wednesday, May 12<\/strong> is our next appointment with the Perinators.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, May 20<\/strong> and the twins become viable as early as 24 weeks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, June 17<\/strong> is <strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Homefree Day<\/span><\/span><\/strong>. 90% of twins born at 28 weeks survive and that number only gets better from there on out.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, August 12<\/strong> and we hit our goal of 36 weeks minimum. From here on the twins could come at any time.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Thursday, September 9<\/strong> and we hit 40 weeks.
