{"id":1008,"date":"2010-02-24T10:27:15","date_gmt":"2010-02-24T18:27:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/?p=1008"},"modified":"2010-02-24T10:27:15","modified_gmt":"2010-02-24T18:27:15","slug":"smoms-and-the-baby-ninja","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/2010\/02\/smoms-and-the-baby-ninja\/","title":{"rendered":"SMoMs and the Baby-Ninja"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><a href=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/twin_logo.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1009 alignright\" style=\"border: 2px solid black;\" title=\"twin_logo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.puckandmary.com\/blog_mary\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/02\/twin_logo.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"211\" \/><\/a>Guest Post by Puck:<\/h2>\n<p>Mary has completed her first screening for gestational diabetes and passed with flying colors. \u00a0Yeah!<\/p>\n<h2>SMoMs<\/h2>\n<p>Last night I surprised the pregnant lady by taking her to the montly meeting of the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sacramentomothersofmultiples.org\/\">Sacramento Mothers of Multiples<\/a><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/sacramentomothersofmultiples.org\/\"> (SMOMs) group<\/a>. \u00a0These ladies are all battle-hardened twin (plus triplet and quadruplet) veterans and full of good advice. \u00a0They sponsor an activity every month and also form a support network for moms as well. \u00a0They have a library of loaner pregnancy and parenting books which makes a lot of sense because you outgrow these books pretty rapidly. \u00a0Twice a year they sponsor a big baby-stuff sale and we&#8217;re looking forward to getting an early shot at twin-stuff in April. \u00a0They sponsor Moms&#8217; nights out, play dates, parties, and more. \u00a0They even offered to bring food and supplies to parents during the early twin shut-in period.<\/p>\n<p>Mary was able to get some of her questions answered and these ladies were very reassuring. \u00a0The best line of the evening?<\/p>\n<p><strong>New Twin Mom:<\/strong> &#8220;<em>Honestly, I don&#8217;t really remember anything about the first four months.<\/em>&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>National Web Site: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nomotc.org\/\">National Organization of Mothers of Twins Club, Inc.<\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Stalking the Baby-Ninja<\/h2>\n<p>This Friday Mary and I visit<strong> Dr. Douglas Hershey the Baby-Ninja<\/strong>. \u00a0He is an expert in prenatal genetics and diagnosis and his team is supposed to have the super-duper ultrasound machines. \u00a0I spent a bit of time stalking him to determine the mysterious nature of his kung-fu and I have found the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Sacramento Magazine rates him as one of the best doctors in the city.<\/li>\n<li>The SMoMs like him.<\/li>\n<li>He is the father of twin boys.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Ahah!!\u00a0Funny how that last bullet point was what jumped out at both me and my wife immediately.<\/p>\n<p>Here is a link to his practice so that you too can stalk him on the Internet.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/pndx.com\/aboutdrhershey.htm\">The Kung-fu of Dr. Hershey the Baby-Ninja<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/pndx.com\/index.html\">His Sacramento Baby-Ninja Sanctuary<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Guest Post by Puck: Mary has completed her first screening for gestational diabetes and passed with flying colors. \u00a0Yeah!
