Snuggles, Hugs and Kisses
Both Dom and Alex have started doing the bashful snuggle into one parent’s chest after having given the other parent a great big grin, and they both will give you hugs around the neck sometimes – especially Alex. Every once in awhile Alex will also give you a kiss on the cheek (which feels a bit like he’s testing just to make sure milk doesn’t come out of cheeks too), and Dom has given a kiss or two himself.
Napping
Napping has been a bit chaotic the last few days. One boy sleeps only 45 minutes and the other 2 hours at one nap. The next, they might switch or both might sleep 45 minutes. Plus, this causes them to end up on different schedules. When the boys take short naps, I’ve been working to resettle them to sleep with varied results. With the current chaos, Mom hasn’t been able to catch a good nap with her sons.
Sleep Update
Alexander slept through the night again! Dominic awoke only once just before 3 AM! (We are still sleep-nursing them at 10 PM.) They both woke up a few minutes early this morning and softly babbled to each other until Mom got up at 6:30. Mom got a pretty good night’s sleep.
Reasons I Keep Putting Off Stopping the Night Nursing:
- That nagging worry: Are my boys getting enough milk? Will I be starving them?
- The hope that they’ll start sleeping through the night on their own (and Alexander seems to be doing this).
- The dread of several miserable and exhausting nights and days for me and the boys.
- How easy it is to simply nurse them and pop them right back in bed.
Next week they will be starting solids, and if they haven’t stopped nursing on their own, I’ll be taking the plunge. I am looking forward to the prospect of a full night’s sleep.
Update: Dom is now getting his second tooth on the bottom!

Thank you thank you for all the current updates. I do believe these boys are advanced in their ability to do things. I would love to be your next door neighbor so look for work in the Dallas/Ft Worth area. You do know why Dom and Alex are working on being able to crawl? This is so they can show off to their Grand Dad.
I’ve put in a little thought about how to make their educational bags. I have put handles on these but if I do it needs to be put on with velcro so they don’t get their head in the handle and choke. What do you think? Have any ideas. It may be they need to wait until they walk real well. I made one of these years ago with a zipper, gripper snaps, and those type of things. I have a while before they are ready. Some children would carry their books or toys around in the bag.
Give Alex and Dom hugs and kisses for Auntie Billie

I bet they will be crawling by the time Papa comes to visit. He will love getting to share that milestone in their lives. They do look like they could just ‘take off’ any time and without a doubt, they will. Have the video and the iphone ready. We’d love to see that movement moment! I do hope you get to sleep all night soon Mary. You have really been great to keep them fed adequately. Little boys do seem to need a little more nourishment because they can be so active. It will be interesting to see if solid food will help them sleep all night. I hope so for your sake. We’ll be waiting for the photos of them eating solid food and then crawling around the house. I can hardly wait. When I try to guess which baby is which before I see the names, I get it right about 50% of the time. Sometimes it is really easy and other times, not so easy. But it is always fun! I want one of those kisses and hugs that they are learning to give, so I had better start planning a trip out there. Maybe, if I’m lucky I’ll make the First Birthday. Love all of you! Grandma Myrtle

My bets are on the solid food making a big difference. I’ll hold good thoughts for it. Sleep is good!
How lovely that you’re getting some positive rewards for the efforts you’re going to around their sleep schedules.
Fun that they are giving kisses.
